An overview of evidence-based recommendations for screening pediatric patients for eye pathology and when to refer. Additionally, the talk will provide an update on pediatric myopia, amblyopia, and cataracts.

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Recognize lifestyle factors that increase risk of myopia development and progression
  2. Discuss with families the new treatment available to prevent myopia progression and outcomes
  3. Check red reflex during exam and identify abnormalities on this screen
  4. Explain to patients what happens during the Ophthalmology visit when evaluating abnormal red reflexes
